CITIZENS INPUT

Representative Ken Clark spoke briefly and asked the town for their support in the June 27, 2006 run-off.

Lawrence and Ethel Burgess were at the meeting and addressed council concerning the expense of having a septic tank installed at their resident on Seivern Rd. They are asking the Town of Wagener for assistance due to the town not being able to provide sewer service at the location.  Mayor and Council both agreed that the Town was not responsible for helping with the septic tank. The town did everything they could do to provide sewer but because the property was in a low lying area sewer could not be provided at a reasonable price.

OLD BUSINESS

Mayor Carver asked for approval of the Second Reading of Ordinance # 2006-02 which was the Fiscal Year 2007 Budget.  Councilman Smith made a motion to accept the second Reading of Ordinance # 2006-02 and Councilman Rawls seconded. Mayor Carver recommended that the police department work with other local agencies for traffic checks in our area.  He said that this would be a good way to build on the working relationships with other Police Departments.

Water Department- Kenneth Smith reported that he was still having problems with the floats at the sewer plant.  He, Mr. Ed and Gary were able to fix the problem but the fix is only temporally. Kenneth also reported that Hildebrand Engineering called and asked if he would approve the changes on the sewer line at Roy Street and then accept the line into our system.  Mayor Carver said that the project shouldn’t be approved if there were any problems with it because it would be our responsibility to repair any problems after we accept the line into our system. Kenneth said he had already given the approval.  Mr. Smith also reported that the pump at the lift station was possibly damaged by lightning and is running loud.  AAA Electrical has been called to check out the problem.
