New Chief of Police for Wagener

MEET YOUR CHIEF::
Michael Goodwin has nearly 24 years of law enforcement experience. He spent the last 17 and a half years at Aiken County Sheriffs Office. The last 7 and a half of those years he served as 1 of 4 road patrol Lieutenants. He also spent time working as a patrol sergeant, a cpl, a fto and 5 years in detentions.

Michael, with the goal to help when/where needed, took the time to train in dispatch to be able to help as much as possible when they were short staffed, working a rough total of 5 years in dispatch. The last 3 months at the Sheriffs Office in fact, he was assisting them in training new dispatchers due to the lack of capable trainers.

Chief Goodwin has earned the Life saving award and the medal of valor from Aiken County Sheriffs Office, as well as a medal of Valor from the South Carolina Sheriff's Association. He also continued to extend his education by attending the FBI command college in 2022.
He is already working hard at mending and rebuilding Wagener Police Department and is very confident that he, along with his incredible assistant chief and new officer(s) can make the Police Department better than it has ever been.

Thank you for your patience in this time of transition.
