The WSHS Lady War Eagles and the Corbett Middle School Lady Lions have begun non-mandatory four-hour daily volleyball practices under the leadership of Coach Shane Hutto and Coach Pam Klapko and with Tami Garvin assisting in the gym and Patti Holsenback assisting in the weight room. Tryouts will be held July 30 – August 1.

WSHS has a Varsity and a Junior Varsity team; Corbett, one team. Home games will usually begin at 5:30 and will require a small entrance fee. Wagener residents are encouraged to come out and support our students in the fall. The benefits of our athletic programs include building good character traits and good health for our students as well as keeping them busy, out of trouble and committed to other students. In this age of technology, we really need to support this.

Middle school volleyball is for students in grades 7 and 8. Home school and charter school students can play on the team if they apply with the district office. Busbee Elementary and Corbett Middle schools will split back out into two schools this fall. Sonya Colvin and Davina Truitt remain as Principal and Assistant Principal at Busbee. Clinton Saunders will remain as Assistant Principal at Corbett and Ms. Robin Hill-Davidson will be the new Principal.

This is Pam Klapko’s first time to coach volleyball at Corbett. After graduating from Airport High School, Klapko received a BS in Physical Education at Lander University in 2012. She married Drew Klapko during her Junior year, 2011.  This is her second year teaching in Wagener and her fifth year teaching overall. She spent two years as a stay-at-home mom and she and Drew have four children.
