Friends of the Edisto (FRED) invites you to attend the Third Annual “Blackwater Summer Festival” at beautiful Aiken State Park on Saturday, June 18, 2016.  Park gates open at nine o’clock AM. Aiken State Park charges $2 for parking. Registration from 9:00 AM until, and the festivities will begin at 10:00 AM.

This year, our selection of musical acts includes the bluegrass flavors of Palmetto Blue, Tom Coolidge and Leftovers, and Don Merckle & The Blacksmiths.

Our educational activities include wildlife demonstrations from Carolina Wildlife Care, and updates on the status of our rivers from SCDNR staff. We will also have a bounce house for the kids, and face painting, as well!

Aiken State Park features swimming and boating facilities, including a canoe and kayak trail along the South Fork Edisto River. There are also hiking trails around the festival area, and camping grounds if you want to make a weekend of it!*

We will have a home-cooked BBQ lunch with all the fixin's. Bring a cooler (no alcoholic beverages, please) and a picnic blanket for the family - well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome to join, too!

The event is free to FRED members. If you’re not a member yet, you can join FRED for special starting annual dues of $10. If you are a member whose membership has lapsed, the renewal fee is $25 for a Basic membership. Non-members can enjoy the all-day activities for a donation of $10.
