Matthew Baugus Charity Golf Tournament

A golf tournament to benefit the Matthew Baugus family, sponsored by the New Holland Fire Department and organized by Dawn and Kevin Richbourg, Greg Rawls and Jessica Baugus will be held on September 29, 2017 at the Hidden Valley Golf Course in Gaston, SC.  Registration is $50 per person or $200 per team and includes green fees, cart and dinner following.  Payment is due by September 1.  Payment information follows.

Matthew Baugus was the beloved husband to Jessica Bodie Baugus and loving father to Shane and Blake.  He was the son of Harold Baugus and Christie Seigler Baugus of Wagener.  Matt was a 2008 graduate of WSHS who enjoyed hunting and fishing and volunteering as a Sergeant with the New Holland Fire Department as the driver of Engine 185.

In March of 2014, Matt was diagnosed with Alveolar soft part Sarcoma cancer in his leg.  His femur bone was removed as well as some tumors on his lungs.  Matt then received chemo and radiation and participated in several trials, all to no avail.

In March of 2017, the cancer had spread drastically and Matt was placed on oxygen 24/7.  Matt passed away peacefully at Aiken Regional surrounded by his family on April 3.

Tournament will be played in Captain’s Choice with 4-person teams.  If you do not enter a team list, you will be placed on a team.  100% of proceeds will go the family of Matthew Baugus for funeral expenses.  Follow the event on Facebook for more information.
