Donations Needed at Listine Gunter Courtney Center

Replacing your exercise or hobby equipment?  Donate your gently used equipment to the Seniors Program at the Listine G. Courtney Center.  This center provides fun and fellowship for our area's Senior Citizens.  The program is always seeking donations -- small things such as regular and decaf ground coffee, tea bags, creamer, sugar, snacks and napkins -- up to big things like a stationary bicycle or sewing machine.  If you can help, please drop off donations at the Listine G. Courtney center any weekday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., excluding holidays.

Busbee Corbett Flag Artwork to Honor Veterans

Displayed at at the Busbee Corbett Veteran's Day Salute, this flag was a replica of artwork by Pop Artist Andy Warhol.
The canned food flag art was inspired by Andy Warhol's "100 Cans" and was recreated by students from Busbee Elementary/AL Corbett Middle Schools. Because the schools participate in the Labels for Education Program, they chose to use Campbell's Soup. They borrowed Chicken Noodle Soup and Vienna Sausage canned foods from the Perry Baptist Church Food Pantry to make students aware there are families in our community who sometimes depend on help with groceries.
Busbee/Corbett students were collecting canned food items to donate to non-profit organizations [such as Perry Baptist Church] to assist needy families in our community.

The students who created the Flag "artwork" were Elementary and Middle School Students, as well as, children of several teachers: Lauren Taite Driggers, Ava and Paisley Hammonds, Miracle Pough, and Madison and Paige Strang.
